Marrying at a young age

This morning, I watched the Tyra Banks Show. 2 young couples shared the same story.

Engaged to be married

Kaitlin met Ryan on their School Camp. He was a Camp Leader and was dating Kaitlin’s sister. One afternoon, on their school yard, Ryan asked for Kaitlin’s number and then started dating. After years, Ryan proposed to Kaitlin. Now they are engaged. But the thing is, Kaitlin is just 15 and Ryan, 18. They are living together at Kaitlin’s family for over a year now and were having sex twice a day. They’re desperate to have a baby so she is taking fertility pills she bought in the internet. Because of what she yearns for, she doubled the dosage of the fertility pills (she took a pregnancy test before the program and found that it was negative). Ryan is working as a pizza vendor and could earn $ 1000 a year, making it like $ 8.10 per hour. They said they’re ready because they are mature and they feel that they can raise their own family.

Kaitlin’s mom Colette is not yet married and was a teenage mom at 15. Colette won’t allow her daughter’s early marriage but they’re still pursuing it despite Colette’s strong disapproval. She said she will support her daughter’s needs like education but she’s not letting her daughter marry and have a family at a young age because she doesn’t want her daughter repeat what she have gotten through her teenage years. It hurts for Kaitlin for not having a father so she is desperate to have a family of her own. She doesn’t have friends to have with because the last time she has turned out to be the “bad” girls on the hood. They take “drugs” and backstab her.

Same story happens with another young couple. Ruth and Lisa have a strong disapproval for their kid’s decision. Richard and Kristine are planning to get married at the age of 16. They’re both in the 9th grade. Richard has broken up with her twice for other girls but Kristine completely forgave him because she’s totally in love with him. He wants to marry her because of the physical stuffs. They live 16 miles away from each other, the reason why they are having a hard time being together. But when the time comes that they will be married, they will be living in the same town (as what their plan is).

After some on the audience shared some insights, the two couple changed their decision 'bout getting married.

Reality check:

Tyra was so appalled a couple of times hearing these teenager's stories. She shared that she's 34 but she's not yet ready to have a family. She is still looking up and still thrilled living as if she's just 16.

I say, before making a decision, check all the possibilities of what will happen after making that decision. It’s not always love that will stand above all. Sometimes you have to use it together with your brain to make it all work. If you marry at a young age, you will lose everything a young age can offer. You will no longer be free from everything because you already have a responsibility which you should take seriously. Besides, at 15, fertility pills can affect your health. At a young age your hormones are still not ready to take it because it is still developing to get matured. Beware of it and just take it with the doctor’s prescription.

The absence of a father is a problem for most teenagers. There is no balance in the family life. It’s always the same thing - you’re not learning the essence of a “manly” attitude if the father is not around, especially if the mother is sharing the same thing. The person deciding to have an early marriage agreed upon having an early family to see how it is to have a complete family member. It’s like giving their children what they never had, a father or a mother.

Let’s consider the fact that everything in this world is dynamic. We don’t even know what will change and when will it happen. Think about living up your life and have fun being free and unrestricted but not too liberated. You will make a difference in the right time so decide first for yourself; of what you think will make you happier. For the single mothers, watch your kids and be there whenever they needs you. Show them that, with father or no father at all, you are strong and enlighten them with love. =)

Heard the song “Let’s wait a while” by Janet Jackson? It goes

“Let's wait awhile before it's too late. Let's wait awhile, our love will be great. Let's wait awhile before we go too far” [=

Friends, I hope, you get something from here. Live your life fruitfully, be happy and always wait for the right time [=
