Hale's NEW drummer

It was last September of 2008 that I saw Hale performing on stage (I wasn’t able to see them on Myx Mo ’08 since we were still outside when they performed). That month up to December, they had gigs and productions with a different drummer. Omnie Saroca had a vacation which I thought would last for a month or two. That was what I’ve said.

Late Thursday evening was when I found out that Hale has an official new drummer in the name of Paolo Santiago (formerly of Join the Club). He was rarely invited by Hale to play on some of their gigs late last year (in exchange to the drummer of Mayonnaise). He’s a good drummer. He’s nice. He’s proficient enough to be called “a band member”. And so, I have no queries on that. My real question is: “What was the real reason why Omnie have to give up his career as a Hale drummer and focus on his other activities?
The said: “he had to prioritize something but we will still support him and he will still support us (hale)”.

I say, I am not fully convinced with that. After more than 4 months of absence, I guess it wasn’t just “prioritizing something” for him to go. I don’t know. Or maybe I am just so unhappy with his decision after 4 years (and counting) of being a Haler. Am I overreacting? Sorry. But I’m just really not prepared with this announcement they’ve been keeping for weeks (or months). Who knows?

I understand the fact that not all people have a better understanding unto what to give importance to. Omnie has a reason in which he has to focus his full attention to a different profession. He also has to give way to his other endowments. He has to take opportunities to carry out his excellence which, we must comprehend and I must understand, being a supporter of them for years. They’re my favorite OPM band and so I can’t keep myself to muse over the gigs I went to, with him being the drummer. I have no more words to say but: “We’ll miss kuya Omnie!” xxx
